Longwood Gardens

October 7
Wednesday

Longwood Gardens is near Kennett Square, Pennsylvania,  an hour from Philadelphia.
Once the estate of industrialist Pierre du Pont, it contains hundreds of acres with elaborate fountains, two lakes, meadows, and even two tree houses.

A place to sit and rest and listen to a piano concert.

The entry of the du Pont house connected to the original farm house.

After Longwood we drove thru the countryside.

Arrived at Jean's brother and wife's home in Glenwood, Maryland.

A good stopping place for me to do laundry and catch up on blogging.
Had a fun two days with Civie and Stan.  Thanks, folks!

And a big thanks to Jean for excellent local tour guiding.

  1. Just caught up on three days of posts, and love hearing every word. That grist mill looked interesting, and those gardens, wow.
