Craig, Colorado

Monday June 22

Leaving Park City I had intended to go south to Zion and some of the beautiful scenery in that part of the state.  But since the weather has been hot I've decided to do that on the way home in the Spring when it will be cooler.

So headed East to cowboy country to visit friends from the 1960's when we were neighbors on Ardis Dr. in Willow Glen.  They retired and moved to Craig, Colorado and we had a lot to catch up on.

Dee took me to a wonderful museum filled with western lore. Did you know that Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and their Hole in the Wall gang hung out between here and Baggs, Wyoming?

Dee and I love this photo of the pioneer woman ready to carve up dinner!

Mike, are there wild pigs  this big in Hollister?!

Don and Dee urged me to check out the museums in Baggs, Wyoming, only about 40 miles away. But as when leaving Park City I was tempted to go to Vail, Colorado but decided it would probably be pretty much like Park City.  Couldn't imagine Baggs, Wyoming having more lore and better museums than Craig, Colorado.

Leaving the KOA there I first asked Ed the park mgr if he would dump my tank so I could watch him do it.  Not quite ready to attempt it myself yet.  He said the charge would be $5. I told him in San Jose the charge is $15 to do it yourself and $30 if they do it for you.  He said that was "ridiculous!"  I guess that's in San Jose where everyone is rich and happy. I put $20 in his pocket while he was putting the hose away.

  1. Good "dumping" karma for you -- the next guy probably won't charge you at all! :-) Happy trails.
