Day Two - Reno

Tuesday June 16

RV park, Reno

Left the RV park,  this time remembering to unplug the electric cord, unlike leaving Bobbie's house a few nights ago where I nearly ripped her kitchen window out forgetting to unplug!  Will not forget to look at my checklist from now on.

Decided to go north instead of Route 66 in the south where it will be too hot now. Will catch Route 66 in the spring on my return trip when not so hot.  Flexibility is the key on this trip. So stayed on 80 thru Truckee where I  had lunch at a triple D (Diners, Dives and Drive-ins) restaurant.  Guy Fieri's show on the Food Channel is one of my favs. I look on the internet in each town for one of the places he has featured on the show. Great chicken sandwich. Huge so enough for dinner, too.

Wednesday June 17

Arriving Reno found  the RV park I had reserved last night. It was near enough to downtown I would be able to walk to a casino and watch the NBA finals at a bar. It's always more fun to watch in a crowd or so I thought.  It turns out at the Gold Dust Casino the people are more interested in gambling than watching the Warriors beat the Cavaliers.  No one paid any attention until the last few minutes when it turned into a football/soccer game.  Warriors won!  WooHoo!

It had been a beautiful drive from Sacto to Reno but now Reno to Elko on 80 was long and ugly.
Nothing but sagebrush and desert. In Tucson they used to say it had it's own kind of beauty. OK... So I put on tapes to play, especially the one Bobbie made me of 50's tunes and some Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson turned up real loud.

Elko Ironhorse RV park

Arrived Elko Ironhorse RV park to find I had no wifi connection. Sat in the hot tub awhile thinking what to do until the kids drove me out. A call to Bobbie and she reminded me to use the wifi extender Nacio had found online.  Worked like a charm so I could watch Grace and Frankie on Netflix.

  1. Love this, esp. the thought of you sitting in a hot tub in an RV park thinking about a WiFi connection. Too funny. Like Anne says: drive slow, turn fast!
